Rakonto is the word for "story" in Esperanto. Daniel’s Rakonto project seamlessly blends recorded interviews he has conducted with farmers, immigrants, hurricane survivors and many other people living throughout the US with stunning, original music performed by Kelly’s band of world-class musicians.
Audiences around the country have been deeply moved by this relevant and powerful portrait of America in the 21st century.
Daniel has been commissioned by eleven performing art centers around the country to create these concert-length Rakonto works. Daniel has created two shows featuring the best stories and music from all eleven of the Rakonto concerts. These concerts are titled: Everyday Heroes: Listening to America and Generation NOW: Listening to America.
This video features the first Rakonto concert focused in Flushing, Queens, NYC that incorporated recorded interviews with community members on the topics of daily life, culture & immigration.
